How we computed this

A first-time filer is a nonprofit whose single audit accepted in the week is the earliest audit year we hold for the organization. It is a first observed filing, not proof the organization crossed the single audit threshold this year: a first filing made years after the fact looks the same. The week is Monday to Sunday and a filing counts in the week the Federal Audit Clearinghouse accepted it (the accepted date, which anyone can check on fac.gov). Counts are nonprofit auditees only, one report per organization and audit year, from our copy of the data; a resubmission supersedes the filing it replaces. They can differ slightly from a direct search on fac.gov, and a recent week can fill in after we read it.
